List any experience that qualifies you for this elected position:

Six-plus years as a council member during which many important issues were dealt with.

State at least 3 reasons why you are seeking a seat on this elected body.

To provide continuity to the position -

To finish current projects such as the Intertie and the purchase of the Ketchikan Shipyard -

To represent the community to the best of my ability during some difficult times -

Why should the voters elect or re-elect you?

The voters should elect me for my abilities as a decision-maker and because they trust me. I have always tried to be a good listener and I bring a businessman's perspective to the Council.

List local, regional and/or state-wide issues that you believe are a high priority and state your position on each.

The Intertie must be completed in order to take care of Southeast Alaska's future energy needs.

The Ketchikan Shipyard is also a high priority. The Council and Borough need to work out the purchase with A.I.D.E.A. and the second ship lift needs to be completed.

These are two of my high priority projects that are important for our economic future.

General Questions:

How do you determine you position on an issue?

By weighing both sides of the issue and reaching a decision based upon the facts presented.

What would compel you to change your position?

Receiving a well-delivered counter opinion from council members or the public that was capable of changing my mind.

If a dozen people speak at a public meeting on a controversial agenda item with the majority of the speakers opposed and the minority for, how would this impact your ability to form a decision on what is best for the community?

I would have to weigh all of the arguments, pro or con, and still keep a focus on what is best for all of us. I have been through many controversial issues in the past as a council member and am used to pressure situations.

Where would you most likely obtain more information on agenda items?

Staff recommendations

Who would you most likely talk to prior to making a decision that affects the entire community?

People in the community -

In a public meeting discussion, what would you likely do?

Tell others my position and listen to the position of others -

How do others view you?

Unbiased, reasonable and diplomatic -
