2002 Phenomenal Women Awards
Danelle Landis Honored

Danelle LandisDanelle Landis is the Captain, Training Officer, and the heart and soul of the Canine Rescue Team in Ketchikan. At present, she has the only certified Search and Rescue dog in Southern Southeast Alaska.

Danelle has participated in searches on Revillagegedo, Annette, Gravina, Prince of Wales, as well as other outlying areas.

Not only is she active in rescuing people, but she is also largely responsible for building the K9 team to where it is now. As a result of her dedication and untiring devotion, the K9 team currently has three other handler/dog teams that are going through the testing process to become certified for Search and Rescue work. Danelle is instrumental in recruiting, training, and mentoring new members.

As a mother with two small children and a husband whose job often requires travel, she is able to maintain a complex system of child care so that she can respond at a moment's notice, any hour of the day or night, when called out on a search.
