PATCHWorks & the Community of Ketchikan Congratulate and Honor
Cindy Perry

Diane Gubatayao, in presenting the Community Asset Builders Award to Cindy Perry, read the letter nominating Perry. Gubatayao said that the nomination letter written by Carla R. Claasen on behalf of Alaska and Proud Markets/Williams, Inc. said it all so Cindy Perry & Diane Gubatayaowell.

Claasen wrote that Perry has worked for A&P since it started in 1988. In that time "she has become acquainted with every baby and small child who has ever shopped with us. In fact, I think Cindy has held more babies than most Presidents or Governors on campaign.

Cindy is enthusiastic and caring to these children, many of whom have grown up and become employees at A&P. She is an understanding supervisor and a confidence builder.

Off the job you will find Cindy at nearly every youth sporting event. She is an announcer for the Kayhi Kings and Lady Kings, she is a scorekeeper for the First Bank Little League Team, and she umpires if needed and helps out selflessly wherever she can. Most recently, she traveled at her own expense to Seattle just to "Be There" to support the 10-year-old All Stars in a wooden bat tournament. Yes, I know lots of parents do this....What sets Cindy apart is that she is not a parent, she just loves kids and wants to see them excel. She encourages them all and knows them by name.

Cindy leads a drug free life and is active in her family, her church and The League of Women Voters. We are proud to have her as part of our team here at Alaskan and Proud, we believe Cindy truly personifies that of a community asset builder. If you are ever in our store and your child doesn't have a quarter for the bubble gum machine...not to worry, Cindy will give them one!! She just can't help herself!"
