First City Rotary

 

Sue Bethel - 1st City Rotary
Sue Bethel accepted the honor on behalf of the 1st City Rotary.

Chad Medel presented the 2001 Community Asset Builder Award to the First City Rotary remarking that the First City Rotary sponsors many programs that benefit youth including the Rotary Interact Club at Ketchikan High School for community service and the Rotary International Youth Exchange program. Every Fourth of July, First City Rotary conducts the famous Rubber Duck Race with proceeds benefiting local groups. This year some of the money was used to help build a playground for the Ketchikan Head Start program. Another example of special programs includes the time that members refurbished used musical instruments to support music students who could not otherwise afford them.

First City Rotary is recognized for building the assets of community values youth, youth as resources, service to others, high expectations, youth programs, achievement motivation, responsibility, and sense of purpose.
