League Championship in Petersburg Thursday evening.

In the top of the first inning Ketchikan scored two runs off a home run hit by Casey Bass but Juneau hammered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

At the top of the second, Ketchikan's Ricky Grams celebrated his birthday by hitting a home run and Ketchikan held Juneau to no runs.

Juneau managed to hold Ketchikan to no runs in the top of the third inning and got in a run to tie the two teams, 3 to 3.

The difficulties for Ketchikan began in the top of the 4th inning with a controversial call on a hit by Ketchikan's Brandon Eubanks which went to the right field fence. Initially it was thought to be over the fence. The home plate umpire made the signal for a ground double rule to Eubanks and he proceed to advance to second base. Juneau got the ball back in play and tagged Eubanks out on his way to second. The out was questioned and discussed because of the initial signal made by the home plate umpire. The top of the 4th ended with the call standing. Juneau came into the bottom of the 4th with two runs on errors by Ketchikan .

During the 5th inning neither team scored any runs.

In the top of the sixth it appeared that Ketchikan was going to rally when they scored a run on an error by Juneau. Ketchikan held Juneau to no runs but when the top of the seventh came Ketchikan wasn't able to make it to base and the game ended with the final score - Juneau 6, Ketchikan 4.

Juneau, the new 2002 District II Senior League Champs, will now advance to play in the State Tournament which will being on Saturday in Petersburg.
