Tuesday - 12:30 am

The University Connection Scholarship Program is open for application. This program, funded by the Ketchikan Gateway Borough, provides scholarships to fund university tuition and fees for approved Ketchikan Gateway Borough high school students.

High school students wishing to enroll in credit bearing college courses may be required to take college level placement exams in math and English before being approved for the program. Sophomores can take one course per semester; juniors and seniors may take up to two courses per semester. Each high school student must have signed permission from parent(s) and the high school counselor or principal.

The University Connection Scholarship Program is a merit-based scholarship with motivation, educational goals, current education success and other achievements being considered as part of the scholarship process. Students with grade point averages below 3.0 will be considered with some additional supportive paperwork required.

The priority deadline for the fall semester is August 19. Application received after that date will be considered only as funds are available. Students will be notified of awards by August 23rd and will be required to attend an orientation at UAS Ketchikan if awarded a scholarship.

Applications are currently available at the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan main campus on the first floor of the Paul Building. For more information, interested persons can contact Student Services at 228-4508.
