By Proclamation dated April 15th, Ketchikan Borough Mayor Jack Shay has declared the week of April 28 through May 4, 2002 as Municipal Clerks Week and extended appreciation to our local Municipal Clerks.

Municipal Clerks

Recognized for their accomplishments, the vital services they perform and for their dedication to the communities of Ketchikan and Saxman which they serve are (left to right):

  • Nora DeWitt, Municipal Clerk - City of Saxman
  • Harriett Edwards, Deputy Municipal Clerk - Ketchikan Gateway Borough
  • Susan Bethel, Municipal Clerk - Ketchikan Gateway Borough
  • Katy Suiter, Municipal Clerk - City of Ketchikan
  • Dorene Smith, Deputy Municipal Clerk - City of Ketchikan

The Office of the Municipal Clerk throughout the world is a time honored and vital part of local government and the oldest among public servants states the Proclamation. Municipal Clerks provide the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies, and agencies of government at other levels as well as serving as the information center on functions of local government and the community.
